COACHING AND PERFORMANCE
Sports Coaches are one of the most
important resources available for the development of sport.
Quality coaching and coaches are essential to encouraging more people to
participate in sport and to achieve high standards of performance.
Coaching is the key to ensure that those who participate in sport are
given a chance to reach their full potential. Coaching at JBC is
available for adults & juniors.
QUALITY COACHING & SAFE COACHING
The senior coaches at JBC are approved to coach by BADMINTONscotland and are
on the official Coaches Register for BADMINTONscotland. Our coaches are
fully enhanced disclosure checked and are covered by a public liability
insurance policy. Registered coaches agree to be bound by the
Memorandum and Articles of BADMINTONscotland.
Our coaches have undertaken a variety of
coaching awards, training days and workshops covering first aid, risk
assessment, coach development and safe practises when working with children.

CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)
The game of Badminton has developed in recent
years with changes to the scoring system and to the laws of the game. The legislative requirements for coaching have changed
even more rapidly. Coaching methods have evolved as have training and
teaching techniques therefore coaches must undergo continual education to
keep pace with the game, to work within the law and to coach safely.
To help ensure players receive quality
coaching in a safe environment, JBC coaches continue to
invest in their personal development thus meeting the requirements of
best practise. The National Governing Body (BADMINTONscotland) plan to role
out a CPD scheme for registered coaches over the next two years - staying
registered means staying insured to coach!

The World team Championships gave
BADMINTONscotland the chance to host the two-day World Coaches
Conference at the University of Strathclyde Jordanhill Sports
Campus. Morten Frost, the former number one player from Denmark
delivered two on court sessions over the two days and for me, was
the highlight of the conference. The conference was attended by
coaches from all over the world backed up by a good Scottish
attendance. (Photo - BADMINTONscotland)
